Kartik Kumar’s resignation comes hours after he was removed from his position in the law ministry and allocated the sugarcane industries ministry this morning.
Bihar minister Kartik Kumar, who was named as an accused in a kidnapping case, has stepped down from his new position in the sugarcane industries department. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has accepted his resignation and forwarded it to the Governor.
Kumar’s resignation comes hours after he was removed from his position in the law ministry and allocated the Sugarcane Industries ministry this morning. The transfer came amid growing outrage over his alleged involvement in criminal cases.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation (CPIML), a key ally in Bihar’s Mahagathbandhan government, wanted Nitish Kumar and his deputy, Tejashwi Yadav, to review the decision to appoint Kartik Kumar as a law minister in the cabinet.
