T20 World Cup: Leadership group including Rohit took decision to send Ishan as opener, says Vikram Rathour
India Today
India batting coach Vikram Rathour on Tuesday said that the leadership group including Rohit Sharma took the decision to send Ishan Kishan as an opener against New Zealand. India will be up against gritty Afghanistan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
Rohit Sharma can be counted among the greats in white-ball cricket and is in line to lead India in the shortest format after Virat Kohli steps down at the end of the ongoing T20 World Cup.
In a surprise move, he was pushed to number three and Ishan Kishan opened the batting. The move failed and so the entire Indian batting line up as the side laboured to 110/7 in 20 overs.
