T20 World Cup 2021: New Zealand complete hat-trick of wins over India in ICC events

T20 World Cup: New Zealand's eight-wicket win on Sunday meant that they have now beaten India in consecutive matches in ICC events across all formats of the game.

Sunday's eight-wicket defeat in the T20 World Cup gave India an unwanted hat-trick against New Zealand - they have now lost to the Kiwis in three consecutive matches that were played as part of tournaments organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) across all formats of the game. The loss on Sunday came after India's defeat to New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup and in the final of the 2019/21 World Test Championship (WTC) final.

This was only the third time that the two teams faced each other in a T20 World Cup but the 10th in World Cup tournaments. The loss on Sunday, coupled with India's earlier 10-wicket defeat to Pakistan, has put Virat Kohli's men on the brink of being eliminated in the Super 12 stage of the tournament.
