Drago, a spinoff of Sylvester Stallone's Rocky, was recently announced by the original film's producer, Irwin Winkler. This, however, did not go down well with Rocky star, Stallone. Taking to Instagram, Sylvester Stallone lashed out at Irwin Winkler for 'sucking Rocky dry' along with a very graphic picture of Irwin sucking blood like a vampire off of Rocky's neck. Stallone, however, deleted the post later.
Hollywood superstar Sylvester Stallone is unhappy with Rocky producers' decision to announce a spin-off of the hit franchise, titled Drago. Stallone called out producer Irwin Winkler for destroying the superhit 1976 sports drama's iconic characters, and said that Irwin and family are 'sucking Rocky dry'. Along with the strong words, Stallone shared a series of pictures, most notably one with Irwin portrayed as a vampire sucking blood off of Rocky's neck, to express his displeasure. Stallone, however, deleted the post later.
"After IRWIN WINKLER And FAMILY SUCK ROCKY DRY ! Presumed to be the most hated , untalented , decrepited , Producer in Hollywood and his cowardly children have found their next meal Drago ? Throughout history so many artists in every industry ,recording , painting writing , you name it have been destroyed by these blood suckers Who have destroyed so many families , lining their pockets with other people work.. #parasite producers #exploited artists victims (sic)," Stallone wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post.
A screenshot of the same is still available on the internet. See here:
Drago first appeared in the 1985 film Rocky IV and was essayed by Dolph Lundgren.
This isn't the first time Stallone called out Irwin for exploiting Rocky and his story. Earlier, in another Instagram post, Stallone had said, "Another Heartbreaker Just found this outONCE AGAIN , IRWIN WINKLER , this PATHETIC 94 year old PRODUCER and HIS MORONIC VULTURE CHILDREN, Charles And David , are once again picking clean THE BONES of another wonderful character I created without even telling me I APOLOGIZE to the FANS , I never wanted ROCKY characters to be exploited by these parasites By the way, I once had nothing but respect for Dolph but he NEVER told me about what was going on behind my back with the character I created for him !!! REAL FRIENDS Are more precious than gold (sic)."
Interestingly, that post has now been deleted. Here's a screenshot:
