Suvendu Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh detained in Kolkata during counter-khela hobe protest

BJP leaders Suvendu Adhikari and Dilip Ghosh were detained by West Bengal police for protesting at the Gandhi statute on Mayo Road in Kolkata on Monday. On the same day, the TMC was celebrating Khela Hobe Diwas.

On a day when the Trinamool Congress (TMC) celebrated Khela Hobe Diwas on Monday, BJP leaders Suvendu Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh, Joy Prakash Majumdar and MP Debashree Chowdhury were detained by West Bengal police for protesting at the Gandhi statute on Mayo Road in Kolkata. The BJP leaders along with their supporters were protesting the communal violence that erupted following the “Direct Action” call given by the Muslim League in 1946. The Muslim League had chosen August 16 as the Direct Action Day to press for its demand for a separate country for Muslims in post-British rule in India.
