A Sunday morning fire at the River Road Golf Course is being deemed "suspicious" in nature, a spokesperson with the London Police Service told CBC News.
The golf course is a potential site for an Indigenous-led winter shelter.
London Fire said the blaze ripped through the club house. The mobile trailers weren't affected and nobody was injured, fire official said.
In the shelter proposal, the trailer would have housed people experiencing homelessness.
Fire officials told CBC News the fire is "considered suspicious until proven otherwise."
Fire and police officials are investigating the incident in a coordinated effort.
Meanwhile, City Council is set to decide the fate of the proposed shelter on Nov. 16. The proposal was endorsed by the city's Community and Protective Services Committee on Nov. 2.
If approved, it'll accommodate 30 residents from Dec. 1 to Mar. 31, 2022.
