Suryakumar Yadav reveals how Gautam Gambhir’s belief changed his entire career

Suryakumar Yadav spoke to Gaurav Kapoor on Breakfast with Champions and delved into what turned him into the player that he is today.
Indian batsman Suryakumar Yadav in an interview with Gaurav Kapoor revealed how Gautam Gambhir’s trust changed his career. Speaking on Kapoor’s show Breakfast With Champions, Yadav revealed that it was Gambhir who first put faith in his talent, something that got him on the right track.“When I went to KKR from MI in ‘14, he felt that I had something in me. He felt that if he guided me to do the right processes, I could be on the right path.”
He went on to reveal that it was Gautam Gambhir himself that coined the term SKY, something that is synonymous with Yadav today.“I did not realise it at first,” revealed Surya. “When I went to KKR in 2014, Gauti bhai barked ‘sky, sky ’a few times. When I finally turned around, he said ‘Ya, I am calling you only, look at your initials.’ ”And that’s when I realised that my initials added up to SKY.Speaking on the show, the right hander revealed details about instances in the Mumbai Indians and the national dressing room.At the moment, Yadav is Mumbai Indians’ best batter, having scored 200 runs, at an average of 66.67 and a strike rate of 153. Yadav is expected to be called up for the national team for the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in Australia later this year. The 31-year-old would be hoping to turn around MI’s fortune as well, hoping that they can attain the minimum number of points to make it to a respectable position in the league table.
