The Supreme Court on Thursday said it will list for hearing a PIL challenging the validity of two ordinances under which the tenure of the directors of CBI and Enforcement Directorate can now be extended by up to three years after the mandated term of two years.
A bench comprising Chief Justice NV Ramana and justices AS Bopanna and Hima Kohli took note of the submissions that the PIL on the issue is yet to be listed for hearing.
Advocate ML Sharma, who has filed the PIL in his personal capacity, said now the tenure of ED Director Sanjay Kumar Mishra has also been extended by taking recourse of the powers under one of the ordinances.
