Supreme Court sets aside Calcutta HC's blanket ban on firecrackers

The Supreme Court on Monday set aside the blanket ban on firecrackers imposed by the Calcutta HC. A vacation bench of the Apex court has allowed the use of green crackers in areas where air quality is 'good' or 'moderate'.

The Supreme Court of India has set aside a blanket ban on firecrackers imposed by the Calcutta High Court.

Certified green crackers can be sold and burst in areas where air quality is "good" or "moderate", the bench ruled.
