The Supreme Court Thursday directed governments of Punjab, Haryana and Bhakhara Beas Management Board to maintain status quo on supply of Yamuna water to Delhi till Friday.
The Supreme Court on Thursday directed the Bhakhara Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the governments of Punjab and Haryana to ensure that the water supply to Delhi is not reduced till the next hearing in the matter on Friday. The order was given by the apex court while hearing a plea filed by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) stating that the national capital’s water supply will be reduced by 25 per cent due to a proposed repair project in the Bhakhra Beas river canal. Delhi depends on the supply of Yamuna water. With summer setting in, a reduction in the city’s water supply can spell trouble.More Related News
