Supreme Court appoints new judges to hear coal scam cases
India Today
The Supreme Court has appointed two judges to hear all pending coal scam cases.
For the last six years, the coal scam cases have been heard in the court of Additional Sessions Judge (Special Judge) Bharat Parashar. The courtroom in Patiala House court complex in Delhi has seen the conviction of former coal secretary HC Gupta, NDA coal minister Dilip Ray, and former UPA mining minister Madhu Koda, as well as brickbats for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), in cases where no charges could be proved. Now, with Judge Parashar’s promotion getting delayed, the Supreme Court has appointed two other judges to handle the pending matters. The bench, headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde, on Monday appointed Additional Sessions judges Arun Bhardwaj and Sanjay Bansal to replace Judge Parashar.More Related News
