External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s sharp riposte to the US on the subject of India’s imports of Russian oil has elicited praise from an unexpected quarter -- Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi.
Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, a known critic of the Centre, took to Twitter to share a video of Jaishankar’s comeback, which she termed “superb”.

At a joint press conference after the India-US 2+2 ministerial dialogue, Jaishankar took exception to US Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s remarks that India should consider not purchasing additional oil from Russia, in light of the global sanctions against the country for its invasion of Ukraine.
The foreign minister quipped that instead of pointing the finger at India, the US should take a closer look at its allies in Europe, who are a far bigger consumer of Russian energy.
