A contract killer was shot dead on Monday afternoon outside a court complex in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, police said.
The contract killer has been identified as Sandeep Vishnoi. The shooters opened fire at gangster Sandeep Vishnoi outside the court premises in front of the police, in which he died on the spot.
According to police, Sandeep Vishnoi was taken to Nagur court for a hearing when unidentified assailants arrived in a car and fired nine bullets, leaving him dead on the spot. All the shooters had come in a black color Scorpio.
After the incident, a huge crowd gathered outside the court premises. Vishnoi's body was taken to the hospital.
To grab the assailants, the police is putting up barricades across the district and is checking all the vehicles.
"The deceased is a native of Haryana. He was a contract killer and was also involved in illegal liquor smuggling. Vishnoi was associated with the Sethi gang. He had also murdered a businessman in Nagaur. Prima facie it appears to be a case of murder," said a policeman associated with the investigation of the case.
Sandeep Vishnoi was a friend and aide of smuggler Raju Fauji, who had killed two constables in Bhilwara. It was Sandeep who gave weapons to Raju Fauji for killing the policemen. Sandeep had confessed during the course of police interrogation that he had bought weapons from a supplier in Uttar Pradesh to operate his gang.
