Sunil Chhetri plays down feat of surpassing Lionel Messi: I don't count the number of goals I score
India Today
Sunil Chhetri went past Lionel Messi to the 2nd spot on the list of active international footballers with most goals. He scored a brace to help India beat Bangladesh in a World Cup qualifier match in Doha on Monday.
India captain Sunil Chhetri on Tuesday said he never kept a tab on the number of goals he scored and he would like to remain that way even as he surpassed Lionel Messi's tally of goals to become the second-highest scorer among active footballers. Sunil Chhetri went past Lionel Messi's tally of 73 goals when he opened the scoring for India in the joint FIFA World Cup and Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers against Bangladesh in Doha on Monday. He doubled India's lead with a stoppage-time strike and finished with 75 goals. The skipper said he will get down to counting his goals probably 10 years down the line.More Related News
