Doha: Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, one of the centers operating under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, has commenced its summer activities at its branches in Al Hilal and Lusail. The events will run from June 30 until July 25.
The summer activities target age groups from 3 to 19 of individuals with both autism and intellectual disability, with the number of participants reaching 158 from both genders.
CEO of Al Shafallah Center Mariam Saif Al Suwaidi said the primary objective of these activities is to raise the awareness of rights of persons with disabilities (PWDs) to engage in summer activities and invest in their capacities through wide-ranging programs that help them internalize multiple skills.
Al Suwaidi added that the center is committed to providing services to its affiliates during summer and fostering familial partnerships during their participation, in addition to reinvigorating the role of societal partnerships through the engagement of many state ministries and bodies in conducting diverse activities that meet the affiliates' needs.
She highlighted that such activities assist the affiliates in internalizing skills during summer, as the center strives to leverage their capabilities through implementing beneficial activities to fill their leisure time.
