Sudheer Babu recently completed 10 years in cinema. In an interview with IndiaToday.in, he spoke about what he learnt about cinema and the Telugu film industry.
Sudheer Babu has completed 10 years in the Telugu film industry. From his debut flick Shiva Manasulo Shruti (2012) to his recent release V (2020), the actor is happy to be where he is today. Speaking to IndiaToday.in, Sudheer Babu said, "It just feels like yesterday. I still remember the first day of my shoot and the release of my first film. A lot of things have happened in the last 10 years. I am really happy to be where I am today."
In the last 10 years, Sudheer has played various roles. From action to romance to playing an antagonist, he has mastered it all. Ask him how does he see his growth as an actor, he said, "I think this is something you can’t measure, but you do know that you have grown over a period of time. If you ask me to pinpoint what I have learnt in the last 10 years, it's hard to pick one. What I have realised is that a lot of people have different styles of acting. There is a style of mannered acting and there is a style of inside-out acting. I think I fall into the category of inside-out kind-of acting style. That’s my experience and observation after doing certain roles."
Sudheer, who has done almost 20 films in his career, admits that his approach towards picking a film has changed. "You not only grow as an actor but as a person too. The way you choose and approach films changes as you grow. Basically, you have to do not what you are good at, but also what the audiences expect out of you as. There are also a lot of other factors. Initially, I used to take a call based on a good script. Later, with experience, I came to know that you need to understand whether the technicians can handle such a script. The budgets are also important. Just because you have a good script doesn’t mean everything is sorted. You need to have the right budget. It’s not just the script, but we have to consider the entire thing. Based on all these aspects, my choice of films has changed," he explained.
Ask the actor what kind of influence did his brother-in-law Mahesh Babu have on his career, Sudheer quickly replied, "I used his experience as a case study." Further elaborating, he said, "My family members - Mahesh and Krishna garu - never got involved in what films I took up. But having said that, I used their experience in life as a case study while picking up the subject of my next film. Coming from a film family, whenever we meet, we talk about work, that’s for sure. We discuss the technicians, genre and we share the script that we are working on. But I have never asked Mahesh his decision about a script that I am about to sign. Because everyone is busy with their own work. Also, when you make decisions on your own, sometimes you fail but sometimes grow as an independent person."
Before signing off, Sudheer admits his father-in-law was a huge inspiration for him. "My father-in-law Krishna garu was a huge inspiration for me to get into films. I have grown up watching his films and he is the reason I am here. At the same time, every successful film inspires me. So, more than a person, it's the number of good films."
Talking about his upcoming projects, the Nannu Dochukunduvate actor said, "Right now, I have completed the shooting of my upcoming film. We are looking for the right time to release it. I also have Aa Ammayi Gurinchi Meeku Cheppali, which is directed by Mohana Krishna Indraganti. This is the third time we are working together after Sammohanam (2018) and V (2020).
