K9 Roy was quickly rushed to the veterinarian and is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
Four people were arrested in the operation by the drug enforcement unit, in which police seized 68 grams of fentanyl, 4.5 grams of cocaine, around $8,000 in cash and a large amount of counterfeit American money.
“The estimated street value of the seized drugs is approximately $7,000,” police said in a news release Friday, of the Burton Avenue drug bust.
“During the execution of the search warrant, K9 Roy ingested fentanyl while searching a room. His handler immediately administered Narcan and rushed him to the veterinarian where he underwent precautionary tests.”
Thanks to the quick action to save his life, Roy is “expected to make a full recovery,” police said.
“This is a stark reminder of the dangers our officers and canines face while protecting our community.”
