Closing arguments are being heard at the Sudbury courthouse Monday in the trial for the man accused of killing Renee Sweeney in 1998.
Michael Lacy, the defence attorney for Robert Steven Wright, has told jurors the Crown's evidence has so far only connected his client to the crime scene at the Adults Only Video store on Paris Street and has failed to connect Wright to a crime.
In his closing argument Monday morning, Lacy has been taking the 13 men and women on the jury through the exhibits and explaining how he believes there is reasonable doubt to suggest 43-year-old Wright could be guilty.
Wright was an 18-year-old high school student at Lockerby Secondary when the murder happened 25 years ago.
He broke his silence on his presence at the scene that morning when he took the stand in his own defence.
Lacy is expected to finish his argument Monday afternoon when the Crown will then get its turn to present its closing arguments.
The trial has resumed after several COVID-related delays within the past week and a half.
