With both the Ganga and the Yamuna flowing one metre higher than the danger mark, students are forced to go to school by boat in the Prayagraj floods.
With both the Ganga and the Yamuna flowing one metre higher than the danger mark as measured at two points on Sunday, around 6500 people were moved to relief camps and boats were deployed to help people left stranded in the Prayagraj floods.
With water having entered the houses built in residential areas and transport vehicles such as cards and bikes submerged, children are forced to go to school by boat.
School students are going to school and returning via boats and using half submerged ladders to enter their homes.
Both the Ganges and Yamuna are in spate and are causing tremendous destruction.
Flood water has entered more than three dozen localities of the urban area alone, including Daraganj, Chhota Bagha, Bada Bagha, Karelabagh, Gaus Nagar, Salori, Govindpur, Shivkuti, Rasulabad, Rajapur, Ganganagar, Ashoknagar, Draupadi Ghat, Niva and JK Colony.
NDRF has rescued 26 people trapped in the floods and shifted them to safer places. In many places, an entire floor of the houses are submerged.
In such a situation, the Ganges and Yamuna rivers can cross the level of 86 meters. The DM has appealed to the people trapped in the floods to reach safe places in time.
