The national weather agency cites a a low pressure system tracking east across the Great Lakes today through Monday.
"The rain is expected to end and the wind will ease briefly Monday morning. However, the wind is expected to strengthen once again Monday afternoon and become westerly behind a passing cold front," reads the weather advisory.
"Gusts of 70 to 90 km/h are expected for Monday afternoon as well and perhaps reaching near 100 km/h at times mainly along the Lake Erie shores."
The agency warns the howling wind could toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, snap tree branches and cause power outages.
