Stop using derogatory posts against L-G office: VK Saxena's legal notice to AAP
India Today
Delhi L-G VK Saxena sent a legal notice to AAP MLAs demanding its MLAs to stop circulating derogatory posts against him.
In a major blow to the Aam Aadmi Party, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena sent a legal notice to AAP leaders directing them to 'cease and desist' from circulating defamatory statements against the Delhi LG. Under the letterhead of L-G Saxena's lawyer, the notice mentioned certain phrases and social media hashtags which should not be used.
The legal notice was addressed to the AAP National Executive, Atishi Singh, Durgesh Pathak, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Sanjay Singh and Jasmine Shah. Notably, the notice, calling for the end of defamatory posts against L-G, was titled — Urgent Action Required Without Prejudice.
The legal notice demanded the prohibition of the usage of hashtags which appeared derogatory to the constitutional post. The legal notice alleged that the AAP circulated pieces of false information not only to taint the image of L-G Saxena but harm his dignity too.
"I (L-G Saxena's advocate) strongly condemn the libellous acts by the Aam Aadmi Party who have made/ published/ circulated or caused to be made/ published/ circulated, libellous allegations against my Client (L-G Saxena)," the legal notice read.
The notice accused the AAP of unleashing a vilification campaign against the Delhi L-G and termed the above as a 'calculated' move to tarnish his image. Also, the legal notice sent from L-G Saxena alleged that the AAP had been indulging in tainting his image with an objection to divert the public's attention from CBI raids at Manish Sisodia's residence onto trivial matters.
"...tainted with the objective of digressing the attention of the people in view of the recent law enforcement actions having been taken against its senior leader(s)," the notice stated.
"The timing of this vilification campaign appears to be strategic as it coincides with the events due to take place in the courts of law and in the political arena," it further said.
