U.S. equity futures fluctuated, with bank shares mixed in premarket trading as Goldman Sachs Group Inc., Morgan Stanley, Citigroup Inc. and Wells Fargo & Co. report earnings. Europe’s Stoxx 600 edged up after the European Central Bank left rates unchanged. Asian stocks rose after China again indicated looser monetary policy is on the way.
European bonds were mixed and the euro erased gains. Treasuries fluctuated as traders dialed back aggressive bets on Federal Reserve interest-rate hikes. Investors are also looking to U.S. data on retail sales and unemployment claims.
The yen bounced from a two-decade low against the dollar. The greenback was little changed after snapping its longest winning streak since 2020. Oil fell.
Among notable premarket moves, Twitter Inc. surged after Elon Musk offered to buy it and take it private. Tesla Inc. shares fell.
In Europe, Wizz Air Holdings Plc jumped and Ericsson AB dropped after reporting.
