The return of the triumphant Thrissur district team, with the gold cup in hand from the State School Arts Festival, resembled nothing short of a grand celebration, much like the welcoming cheers for a World Cup-winning football team. After 26 years, the State’s cultural capital once again claimed the coveted gold cup, and the reception given to the victorious team was filled with excitement and enthusiasm.
The moment the team arrived at the district boundary in Koratty with the gold cup on Thursday morning, crowds had already gathered in anticipation. Teachers, students, parents, local representatives, and officials from various schools across the district had gathered here long before the team’s arrival, eagerly awaiting the winners. The team was greeted with loud cheer and applause as the streets were filled with excitement and joy. The young talents were felicitated for earning this prestigious honour.
Revenue Minister K. Rajan and District Panchayat President V.S. Prince led the procession, honouring the team. Students from various schools, as well as NCC and Scout members, joined in the celebrations, making Koratty echo with revelry. The triumph continued as the team passed through Chalakudy, Puthukkad, and Ollur, where the public warmly welcomed the champs.
At Koratty Signal junction, a huge crowd of students, teachers, parents, and the general public gathered to welcome the gold cup-winning team. Along with the Revenue Minister, MLA Sanish Kumar Joseph and other political leaders and education officials were present to celebrate this remarkable achievement.
As the team entered Thrissur Corporation limits, the gold cup and its champions were taken first to Thrissur Model Girls School. Later, they were taken in a grand procession to the Town Hall, where a special reception was accorded to them, attended by Ministers, cultural activists, students, teachers, parents, and PTA representatives from various schools.
Celebrating the return of the gold cup after 26 years, all schools in the district observed Thursday as victory day. As Minister Rajan remarked, “Today is a victory day not just for educational institutions but for all of Thrissur.” He praised the students for their excellence, highlighting the significance of this achievement for the district.
