
State’s duty to protect right to life: Bombay HC on oxygen shortage in Goa

The Bombay High Court while hearing a plea on issues of oxygen shortage in Goa Medical College said that it is the state’s duty to protect right to life, which will be violated if people do not have access to the life-saving gas.
The Bombay High Court on Wednesday said that it is the state’s duty to protect right to life, which will be violated if people die due to shortage in supply of medical oxygen. The High Court was hearing a plea on issues related to Covid-19 management in Goa. A bench of Justices M S Sonak and N W Sambre said “Article 21 of the Constitution gives everyone a right to life and Supreme Court has said that the state will have to create circumstances so that this right to life is protected. There is a duty on the state to protect it and this will be completely violated if people die due to lack of oxygen.”More Related News
