DMK president and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday (January 24, 2025) requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah not to replace R.N. Ravi as the Tamil Nadu Governor, contending that his continuation in the post helped the DMK grow further in the State.
Despite all the reservations that the DMK had against Mr. Ravi, the party favoured his continuation in Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan only because it helped further the growth of the DMK in the State, Mr. Stalin said, while welcoming youth, who had quit other political parties to join the DMK.
“Have we ever adopted a resolution in the Assembly seeking to replace the Governor? No, we did not bring about any such resolution. He should remain. The DMK is growing further because of him,” Mr. Stalin said, addressing cadre at the party headquarters Anna Arivalayam in Chennai.
Speaking about the upcoming Assembly session, during which the customary Governor’s Address to the House has been scheduled, Mr. Stalin said: “He [Governor] should come to the House. We will give him the prepared speech text. He should not read it and stage a walk out. And the people should watch all of it.”
