A Catholic elementary school in Cambridge will remain closed until after Easter break due a number of positive cases of COVID-19 reported at the school.
The principal of St. Teresa of Calcutta Elementary School, Amanda Kuntz, said on the school's website that the number of people isolating "is such that we are experiencing challenges having enough staff to safely deliver programs at St. Teresa of Calcutta during this time."
A decision was made to close the school Wednesday and Thursday, and reopen on April 19.
"This is not a decision of public health, but it is being made out of an abundance of caution and because we wish to ensure that we can safely staff the building," Kuntz said.
The school is providing students with Chromebooks, Kuntz said, for students to attend class virtually in the meantime.
"We have crossed this bridge before with other schools in previous years, and we are confident we will be able to return the full school to safe and healthy in person learning very shortly," she said.
