SRK's Pathan or Salman Khan's Tiger 3, which film will do better at box office? Trade expert speaks
India Today
Speaking exclusively to Indiatoday.in, trade expert Ramesh Bala opened up about the 5 big releases scheduled for 2022 and which he thinks will perform better.
2020 and 2021 have not been great for Bollywood. The industry, which would churn out more than 100 films a year, lost out on a lot of entertainment in the past two years. But that dull period hasn't dampened the spirit of filmmakers. Even though there are many restrictions, our Hindi cinema is gearing up for a year full of blockbusters.
From the usual masala movies to period drama and action films, be assured that 2022 will be packed with entertainers. Many films like Brahmastra, Pathan, Adipurush, Tiger 3, and Prithviraj are releasing this year, but can they break records and make it big at the box office?
Speaking exclusively to Indiatoday.in, trade expert Ramesh Bala opened up about Brahmastra and said, "Brahmastra is in the making for a long time and it is supposed to be a VFX spectacle. Definitely, South films will be a competition, but Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt being native actors of Bollywood and, with the backing of Karan, it has the potential to make it big, but we will have to wait and see. Since it's kind of a unique movie. We will have to see how it performs at the box office.
Talking about Shah Rukh Khan's Pathan, Ramesh Bala said that the film can be a blockbuster. "It’s been a long time since Shah Rukh Khan had a release. In the last few years, his movies have not done well. But Pathan has a huge star cast including Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, plus Yash Raj Films backing it so it can create wonders. However, they are yet to finish up the shooting, a lot is pending. But again, if the film is anything like his previous film Don or Raees, a complete action entertainer, then it could be a blockbuster," said the trade analyst.
Speaking about Adipurush, Ramesh said that the film is weak. "So this is not going to be unique for the audience because they would already be seeing him in too many films. Apart from Prabhas, the film has Saif Ali Khan playing the antagonist and it is directed by successful director Om Raut, who should work somewhere for the film. But from all the films that have been mentioned in this list, I think it’s a weak movie," he said.
It's a shoot wrap for Adipurush!!!A wonderful journey has come to its finish line. Can't wait to share with you the magic we have created.#Adipurush #103DaysOfShoot pic.twitter.com/prMUp5fA4S
