Sri Lankan Navy arrests 12 Tamil fishermen for crossing border

The Sri Lankan Navy arrested 12 Tamil fishermen for allegedly crossing the maritime border.
The Sri Lankan Navy arrested 12 fishermen near Neduntheevu island for crossing the maritime border on Saturday morning.
The arrested fishermen were taken to Mayilatti port for further investigation. Their boat was also seized by the Navy.
The Sri Lankan Navy had earlier arrested 28 Tamil Nadu fishermen for allegedly crossing the International maritime border. The arrests took place in two separate incidents on March 24.
Earlier in February, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin had written a letter to External Affairs Minister Jaishankar, requesting them to take action over attacks on Tami Nadu fishermen by the Sri Lankan Navy.
