Former Indian coach Ravi Shastri wants SunRisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson to stamp his authority on the team with the young players.
Former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri wants SunRisers Hyderabad captain Kane Williamson to stamp his authority on his team of young players in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022). He said that it is very different from his setup in the New Zealand side.
“Here, he has to do something different, he has to stamp his authority a little more, personality a little more on the team, and try and get that communication going, where that fear factor between that young player and him, does not exist,” he told Star Sports.
SunRisers will be looking for a positive start to their IPL campaign after a disappointing IPL 2021 when Australian cricketer David Warner was sacked as captain.
They had a five-game losing streak, and hence failed to make it to the play-offs. There were off-field controversies as well, leading to a lot of unrest within the camp.
SunRisers Hyderabad take on Rajasthan Royals in their opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Tuesday, 29th March 2022.
“It’s a good side. What you want from Kane Williamson here is different from New Zealand, where he’s got a nice setup, he knows his players.”
“He has to break that barrier quickly, to get the best out of his boys,” Shastri added further.
