SpiceJet to suspend daily flights from Jaisalmer to Delhi and Jaipur from March 27
India Today
Private airline SpiceJet has decided to suspend its daily flight services from Jaisalmer to Delhi and Jaisalmer from March 27. The decision has been taken due to the lesser number of tourists visiting Jaisalmer during the summer season.
The lack of tourists coming to Jaislamer in Rajasthan in the summer season has prompted private airline Spicejet to suspend its daily flight services to Delhi and Jaipur from the city from March 27. The daily flight services to Delhi and Jaipur from Jaisalmer will remain suspended until the next tourism season in October from March 27.
The move has disappointed local people, residents, defence staff and other government officials due to limited access and connectivity to Jaisalmer.
Jaisalmer civil airport deputy director Abhinav Jain confirmed the development and said that the last flight will operate on March 26 to Delhi and Jaipur. The new schedule will come in October, he said.
He added, "Spicejet connected Jaisalmer with Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Jaipur. But due to some technical issues, the company stopped its flight services to Mumbai and Bengaluru." (sic).
The director also added that another company, Trujet, had given a proposal to start flight services from Jaisalmer to Bikaner, Ahmedabad and Udaipur from April.
