"Today I met Speaker of UP Legislative Assembly Hriday Narayan Dixit and tendered my resignation. The government is speaking lies. Hence, there is no point in sitting in the House," SP MLA Rakesh Pratap Singh said.
A Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Gauriganj constituency in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi, named Rakesh Pratap Singh, resigned from the Legislative Assembly on Sunday after the state's BJP government allegedly failed to repair damaged roads in his constituency.
Accusing the BJP government of "speaking lies", Rakesh Pratap Singh said he had demanded that two damaged roads be repaired. However, he alleged that the state government did not begin any work despite assuring him that the roads would be repaired in three months.
