South Korean firm 3C Tae Yang plans to set up a manufacturing unit in Kalaburagi, boosting industrial prospects.
In a major boost to industrial prospects in the Kalyana Karnataka region, South Korean electronics and semiconductor firm 3C Tae Yang is eyeing Kalaburagi as a site for setting up its first manufacturing unit in India.
The development came to light during a high-level business interaction hosted by the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KKCCI) late on Thursday.
The session featured founder and CEO of 3C Tae Yang Chang Soon Hwang, who was accompanied by founder of Zemicon Electronics Pvt. Ltd. Amit Mane, originally from Kalaburagi and instrumental in facilitating the visit.
Mr. Hwang expressed a strong interest in setting up an assembly line factory in Kalaburagi in collaboration with Zemicon to cater to multiple sectors such as automobile, medical devices, electronics, IP cameras, AR/VR/MR technologies, defense, aerospace, electric vehicles (EVs) and Research and Development.
Highlighting the high cost of operations in metropolitan cities, Mr. Hwang stated that tier-2 cities like Kalaburagi offer a more viable alternative due to lower costs in land, labour and logistics.
“The factory is anticipated to generate employment for 100-150 individuals, with a focus on recruiting women. If successful, the Kalaburagi unit will mark 3C Tae Yang’s first Indian manufacturing venture with plans for further expansion and investment in the region,” Mr. Hwang said in the meeting.
Appealing to the government and KKCCI for support in areas such as land acquisition, tax benefits and special industrial incentives, Mr. Hwang stressed that timely assistance can position Kalaburagi as a vital hub in India’s emerging semiconductor ecosystem.
