South Africa vs India: Quinton de Kock's retirement was a shock but we respect his decision - Mark Boucher
India Today
South Africa vs India: Mark Boucher said that while he was aware of Quinton de Kock being unavailable for the second and third Tests against India, he did not expect the first match to be the wicketkeeper-batsman's last game in whites for South Africa.
Quinton de Kock's retirement was a shock for the South African squad but the team and staff respect his decision, head coach Mark Boucher has said. De Kock, who was captain of the team at the start of 2021, announced his retirement shortly after the end of the first Test against India.
"You do not expect anyone of his calibre to retire at that age. It came as a shock. But we fully respect his reasons," Boucher is quoted as saying by news24.com. "It’s sad, but we’ll have to keep going."
