South Africa v India: How IPL 2019 final heartbreak fuelled Shardul Thakur to improve batting ability
India Today
India tour of South Africa: Chennai Super Kings bowling consultant Eric Simons highlighted how Shardul Thakur worked hard on his batting after the IPL 2019 final heartbreak.
Shardul Thakur silenced his critics with a potentially game-changing performance in the 2nd Test between South Africa and India at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg. After picking record-setting figures of 7/61, Shardul chipped in with the bat as well, hitting a quickfire 28 on Day 3 of the fiercely-contested Test match.
Questions were asked of Shardul Thakur's place in the side after his ordinary returns with the bat, managing just 14 runs in the first Test in Centurion. However, Shardul delivered with both bat and ball in the 2nd Test. Shardul picked up the wicket of a well-set Aiden Markram on Day 3 of the 2nd Test to give India hopes of registering their frist-ever series victory.
