South Africa smashed England in the first Test match at Lord’s, defeating the hosts by an innings. Anrich Nortje took six wickets in the game.
South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje has credited captain Dean Elgar’s honesty for the results of the South African Test team. The Proteas recently defeated India at their home and then took apart England in the first Test match of the three-match series, a win that shot them straight to the top of the World Test Champions, in terms of percentage points at least.
Nortje credited Elgar for the wins and said that as a person, the SA captain does not like to beat around the bush.
"Dean is quite straight forward," Nortje was quoted as saying by news agency AFP after the game.
"If he thinks you're not playing your A-game, he'll tell you and the whole team respects that. We need that. You need someone to tell you and not to beat around the bush," he continued
"He will tell you if it is not good enough and at stages that is what happened,” the pacer further added.
"It paid off here and hopefully it pays off again but he does encourage me to try to express myself as a bowler," Nortje explained.
