Sourav Ganguly refuses to compare Rahul Dravid with Ravi Shastri: They are different personalities

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly backed Rahul Dravid to be highly successful as India's head coach, saying his former India teammate is honest and meticulous with the way he goes about his job.
Ravi Shastri had an extremely successful stint as the head coach of the senior India national team and Rahul Dravid has begun his role as Shastri's successor on a good note but BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said it's unfair to compare tacticians with two differing personalities.
Shastri's tenure as head coach came to an end after India's early exit at the T20 World Cup following which Dravid took over the job after quitting his role as National Cricket Academy chief. Under Shastri, India may not have won an ICC title but they blossomed as a potent force in Tests, clinching memorable overseas wins in Australia, England and South Africa.
Questions were asked of the white-ball team's performances at major events under Shastri-Virat Kohli combine but India have set out to right their wrongs under the new leadership group of Dravid and Rohit Sharma.
Under Dravid, India lost a crucial Test series in South Africa but the Asian giants have been phenomenal at home, winning limited-overs series against New Zealand, West Indies and Sri Lanka before sweeping the islanders in a recently-concluded 2-Test series at home.
"They are different people with different personalities. One is at you all the time which is his strength while the other will quietly do his job inspite of being one of the greatest of all time," Ganguly said, as quoted by the PTI.
"No two people will be successful the same way."
Ganguly said he believes his former teammate Dravid has all the attributes for becoming successful in his current role as the coach. Ganguly added that Dravid's "intense, meticulous and professional" attitude are just the ingredients a coach needs to be successful in the high-pressure India job.
