Sourav Ganguly backs India to do well under Rohit Sharma, Rahul Dravid: There’s enough confidence in them

BCCI president Sourav Ganguly said he doesn't want to talk up India's chances at the upcoming World Cups and put pressure on the team, adding that he hopes the team does well at the two major events.
Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly said Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid have seen plenty of success and the senior national team will be a successful one under their leadership group in the near future.
Ganguly said the board and the cricket fraternity has enough confidence in Rohit and Dravid to deliver the right results for India. However, the former skipper said he doesn't want to put too much pressure on them by talking about India's chances in the upcoming T20 World Cup and the 50-over World Cup.
Rohit was appointed as India's full-time white-ball captain after Virat Kohli was sacked from the ODI captaincy role in December 2021. Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid took over from Ravi Shastri as India's head coach following the T20 World Cup in September last year.
Rohit and Dravid have already worked together when India defeated New Zealand in a T20I series last year. The captain-coach combo will reunite when India face West Indies in the upcoming ODI and T20I series, starting February 6 in Ahmedabad.
India were clean swept 0-3 under KL Rahul's leadership in South Africa in an ODI series but the return of Rohi, who missed the trip to South Africa due to hamstring injury, is being seen as a big boost to the team.
"I wish them all the best. They have had great careers so far and I am sure they will do well for India. I cannot predict what is going to happen, but there is enough confidence in both to do well," Ganguly told Sportstar.
India will be led at the T20 World Cup in 2022 and the 50-over World Cup in 2023 by Rohit Sharma and there are big expectations from the successful Mumbai Indians captain but Ganguly said he doesn't want to put pressure by talking up India's chances.
