Sophie Choudry shares her thoughts on the cancel culture and boycott trend on social media. Here's what the singer has to say.
With Laal Singh Chaddha, Raksha Bandhan and the recently released Liger, calls for a boycott of films have been witnessed by many on Twitter. Looking at the same scenario, people have been talking about the cancel culture on social media. Sharing her opinion on the same is singer Sophie Choudry, who feels boycotting a film is unfair. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Sophie talks about cancel culture at length.
Sophie Choudry feels it is sad that people talk about cancel culture in Bollywood and boycotting Hindi films. "Of course, I think it is extremely sad. People look at it, just on the face of it, iski film isko ban kardo ya isko boycott kardo. What about the entire crew and the entire team who worked on this project? What about the months and years of planning? Just to kind of boycott something without even knowing about it, I feel it is unfair. I feel it is really sad," said Sophie.
Sophie further opined that people should be allowed to watch anything that they wish to see. "Let people go and see the movie if they want to see it. Don't prevent people from watching anything. And let people judge for themselves. You are forgetting that the film is not just about the star who is in it, there's a massive crew, there are so many technicians, kitne logo ka ghar chalta hain. Log apni jaan dete yaha kaam karne ke liye, that you always have to remember," the singer added.
Sophie went on to mention, "But I feel everyone has been in a negative bit of space. We just have to keep our heads down, keep working, and try and produce really good work - whether it is movies, music or whatever. And just keep doing our best. All you can do is do your best. You can't please everybody, but you can do your best."
Meanwhile, Sophie Choudry recently released her version of Gori Hai Kalaiyan, for which she has received a good response. From Karan Johar to Varun Dhawan, several celebrities have lauded Sophie's version of the song. While interacting with us, the singer also revealed that Varun used to have a crush on her.
