Sonam Kapoor and Manish Malhotra took to Instagram to mourn Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake's death.
Sonam Kapoor and Manish Malhotra paid heartfelt tributes to Japanese fashion designer Issey Miyake after learning about his death. The designer, hailed as Japan’s prince of pleats, passed away on August 5. He was 84.
Sonam, who is an ardent fashionista, took to Instagram to mourn the celebrated designer’s demise. She shared a picture of Miyake and revealed that he was his mother Sunita Kapoor’s favourite. She also admitted that he was her “introduction into fashion.”
“My mother’s favourite ... my introduction into fashion. This is so sad,” Sonam wrote in an Instagram story.

Indian fashion designer Manish Malhotra also took to Instagram and expressed grief. “The fashion world has lost a visionary,” he wrote.
The renowned fashion designer, known for signature pleated clothes and bestselling perfumes, died of hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) as reported by the Kyodo news agency.
Miyake was born in Hiroshima in 1938 and was seven years old when he witnessed the atomic bomb on the city in August 1945.
