In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Sona Mohapatra said KK's demise is a heartbreaking loss. The singer also recalled meeting KK at the airport.
Singer Krishnakumar Kunnath aka KK passed away at 53. The singer was performing at a live concert in Kolkata post which he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, KK was declared dead. And ever since the news of his demise surfaced on the web, people have been expressing shock and grief over KK's untimely death. Singer Sona Mohapatra, who had the fortune to meet KK in person several times, is also shocked to hear the news of his death.
Like most people, Sona is also shocked to learn about KK's demise. "I am completely in shock listening to this crazy piece of news. And this crossed my mind strangely enough within the first 30 seconds. If I were to go, I’d be blessed to after a live concert. Wrap up my time doing what I was born to and move to more musical realms," said Sona.
Sona further recalled meeting KK at the airport and heaped praise on him. "KK was fantastic on stage, a great band. He had an impeccable reputation in the circuit. He would never undercut to compete, stuck to his price, word and work. He didn’t party or be part of any clique, no posturing or self-importance. He was shy and a family man. I met him often at the airports as we toured with our bands, crisscrossing paths. As a much senior musician, he was always gracious and kind to me. He had no airs ever. It is a heartbreaking loss."
For those unaware, KK collapsed at the Grand Hotel, under the New Market police station area, after returning from a show in Kolkata. He was later rushed to a private hospital in the city and was pronounced dead.
May his soul rest in peace.
