Legendary singer and music composer Bappi Lahiri is no more. He left for his heavenly abode at the age of 69 on February 15. The news of his demise left everyone heartbroken, including singer Sona Mohapatra. In an exclusive interview with IndiaToday.in, Sona recalled a fond memory of meeting Bappi Da on a singing reality show. The singer also called Bappi Da 'front foot ka khiladi' and revealed he had a sharp memory.
Recalling her meeting with Bappi Lahiri on a reality show, Sona Mohapatra told IndiaToday.in, "He was a showman till the end. I met Bappi Da when he came on the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa singing reality show where I was a judge and he was a guest judge. He was switched on and how! He had a sharp memory for all lyrics and shayari. He was very front foot ka khiladi. He was also very affectionate. He told me that my Bolo Na was his favourite (song)."
Sona went on to add that Bappi Da's life was full of music and full of creating a musical visual identity. "Bappi Da released independent pop albums like Habibi that charted on the Billboard charts. He was the disco king and sued and won a copyright case in the USA, for a song he himself had copied earlier, Jimmy Jimmy. There was a lot of ambition in him. But nevertheless, he also gave a great number of genius songs, like the soundtrack of Namak Halal and songs like Inteha Ho Gayi Intezaar Ki," said Sona.
Meanwhile, Bappi Lahiri's last journey has begun and celebrities are paying their last respects.
