Abhishek Banerjee - Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's nephew - was made Trinamool General Secretary in a move seen as reward for planning the April-May election win
Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee - newly promoted as General Secretary - took a swipe at the BJP Monday over its use of the "dynasty" tag in attacks on him and his status within Bengal's ruling outfit. He mocked them for being "rattled" by his appointment and not practicing what they preached ; he said they hadn't passed a law on the topic because they were "importing dynastic turncoats". "You ran a campaign on 'dynasty'. People gave you an answer. I want to tell the BJP... sometimes a dynasty is better than being nasty," Mr Banerjee said, referring to an election campaign littered with crass comments, personal attacks and sexist swipes. "I don't want any ministerial berth for the next 20 years. Can Jay Shah (Home Minister Amit Shah's son, who was appointed BCCI Secretary in 2019) say the same about his BCCI post?" he asked.More Related News
