Soldier from Kodagu who died in J&K mishap cremated with state honours

Soldier P.P. Divin, who died of injuries sustained in an accident involving a military vehicle in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, was laid to rest with full state honours at his native village of Malambi, near Alur Siddapura of Kodagu district, on Wednesday.

After the soldier’s body arrived at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Tuesday night, it was brought to Kushalanagar in Kodagu district in an Army vehicle.
The district and taluk administration had arranged public viewing of the soldier’s mortal remains on the Government Model Primary School premises in Kushalanagar from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday.
Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu, Venkataraja, and other senior officials of the district administration laid wreaths and paid their respects.
Later, the body was taken in a military vehicle in a procession to model Government Primary School premises in Alur Siddapur for public viewing before being shifted to his native Malambi, where relatives, friends and others paid their tributes to the departed soldier.
Mantar Gowda, MLA, former MLAs, K.G. Bopaiah and Appacchu Ranjan, and Superintendent of Police, Kodagu, Ramarajan also paid their last respects.
