Social media post leads WB Police to arms haul, 3 arrested

West Bengal police busted an arms hideout in 24 South Parganas with the help of a social media post by a 19-year-old youth.
A social media post by a youth led West Bengal Police towards an arms hideout in Magrahat area of South 24 Parganas district. A 19-year-old man from West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas was arrested by the police for posing with a gun on social media.
The youth, identified as Imran Khan, had uploaded photographs and video on his Instagram and Facebook page holding a gun in his hand. South 24 Parganas Police raided his place.
Initially, Imran was trying to mislead the cops by saying it was a toy gun but later he accepted that he used a real gun. Further investigation revealed that Imran was trying to hide something.
Rigourous interrogation lead the police towards a huge cache of arms in a hideout in Bilandpur.
Then a team of senior police officials raided the hideout and retrieved eight firearms and 12 rounds of cartridges. Two other youths were also arrested in connection with this case.
