Snow squalls, hazardous driving conditions forecast for London region
CBC
Get ready for flurries and snow squalls off Lake Huron today and Wednesday, with heavy and blowing snow reducing visibility in some parts of the region, making driving hazardous.
"Snow squalls cause weather conditions to vary considerably," Environment Canada said in a statement.
"Changes from clear skies to heavy snow within just a few kilometres are common. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow."
The snow squall warning is in effect for London, Parkhill, and Eastern Middlesex County. Some parts of the region could get between 15 cm and 25 cm of snow.
Stronger lake effect snow squalls can be expected tonight, the weather agency says, and travel could be hazardous because of sudden changes in weather.
"Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas," Environment Canada says.
Temperatures today will drop to - 8 degrees Celsius and a low of -12 degrees Celsius on Wednesday. Possible flurries are forecast for the rest of the week and into the weekend.
