Parts of Midwestern Ontario are under a snow squall warning, according to Environment Canada.
The following areas are under a snow squall warning:
Lake effect snow squalls are expected in these areas. Residents should expect heavy snowfall up to 40 centimetres of snow accumulation by Friday evening in southern parts of the affected region, and as much as 60 centimeteres in the northernmost parts of the affected region, accompanied by poor visibility and blowing snow.
Additionally, a snowsquall watch has been issued for areas to the south. These areas will see heavy snowfall in excess of 15 centimetres, expected to begin Friday morning.
Some areas could see more lake effect snow through the weekend, with snowfall expected to roll in on Friday morning, continuing into Friday evening.
Environment Canada advises to postpone non-essential travel until the conditions improve. Visibility will be reduced at times to near zero, and accumulations of snow will make travel difficult.
