Smriti Irani needs ‘divine’ lesson: Karnataka Congress leader performs havan after Parliament showdown
India Today
A day after a bitter face-off between Sonia Gandhi and Smriti Irani over the 'Rashtrapatni' remark, Karnataka Youth Congress chief Mohammed Haris Nalapad said that Irani “needed a divine lesson in courtesy, composure and common sense".
Karnataka Youth Congress chief Mohammed Haris Nalapad said that Union minister Smriti Irani “needed a divine lesson in courtesy, composure and common sense" as he performed a 'havan' for Irani at Congress Bhavan in Bengaluru on Friday.
This development comes a day after war of words erupted between Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Smriti Irani in the Lok Sabha chamber over the ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark row.
“We are doing havan for Smriti Irani because her brain isn’t working. We are sending cards which say get well soon aunty ji. She is a good actor. Keep up your acting skills in TV serial, not in Parliament. She can’t talk to the AICC president in that manner," Nalapad said.
Parliament was in an uproar on Thursday as a remark made by Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on President Droupadi Murmu snowballed into a political row.
Chowdhury had referred to President Droupadi Murmu as 'Rashtrapatni'.
Though Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury tried to defend his ‘Rashtrapatni’ remark, calling it a “slip of the tongue”, the BJP was having none of it and accused the opposition party of insulting the president.
The row was further escalated in Parliament with the ruling BJP demanding an apology from Sonia Gandhi over Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s remark. The issue led to a showdown between Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and BJP leader Smriti Irani in Parliament a day earlier.
