Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you have probably heard about Pradeep Mehra. The entire country on Monday, March 21, woke up to an inspirational video of a 19-year-old boy from Uttarakhand which was spreading like wildfire on social media. The teenager from Uttarakhand’s Almora became an overnight internet sensation and is winning millions of hearts with his sheer grit and determination.

Smriti Irani shared the video on Instagram and called Pradeep Mehra a “hero” and a true-blue inspiration. “As a parent, you are always on the lookout for examples your kids can learn from, values they can imbibe, life lessons that leave a lasting impression. They say heroes come with feet of clay but some heroes hit the ground running .. they inspire as they aspire .. Pradeep .. a hero hopeful for a place in the Indian Army now firmly placed in the heart of millions of Indians.. an inspiration.. (sic),” she wrote.

Award-winning filmmaker Vinod Kapri, on Sunday, had shared the video on social media of his conversation with the young boy. Kapri had spotted him running along the sidewalk at midnight while he was driving. Mehra runs a 10-km stretch daily, from his work in Noida's Sector 16 to his home in Barola. During their conversation, the boy said he was running home from work after his shift at McDonald's Sector 16.
