Marnus Labuschagne has commented that Steve Smith was in the right headspace as he scored his 28th Test hundred against Sri Lanka on Friday.
Australia's Marnus Labuschagne has claimed that Steve Smith looked in the right headspace as he slammed his 28th test hundred against Sri Lanka on Friday.
Smith was enduring a century drought as his last one came back in January 2021. However, he was finally able to get to the three-figure mark on Day one of the second Test. Labuschagne also chipped in with a fine hundred on Friday as well.
Speaking after the day's play, the Australian batter said that he and Smith felt like they left some runs out in the last game and wanted to cash in on the opportunity.
“Both of us felt like we’d left some runs out there for the last few Tests. So it was nice to cash in when we got an opportunity."
“From last week I was very disappointed. Probably just going away from my process rather than the dismissal," said Labuschagne.
Speaking about Smith, the 28-year-old said that the star batter looked like he was in the right headspace after being run out in the first Test.
“And obviously Smudge got run out (in the last Test). The boys said this morning when he rocked up to the ground, he was in the Smudge (Smith) headspace and he looked locked in," said Labuschagne.
