Skill training, educational support to be provided to Tihar inmates by Delhi govt

The Delhi government will offer Tihar jail inmates with skill training development and educational support.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said on Thursday that Delhi government is going to provide skill training and educational support to inmates in Tihar jail to aid them in reintegrating better with society after the completion of their jail term. Delhi government schools teachers will be studying the educational background and potential skills of the inmates.
The deputy chief minister conducted a meeting on Thursday with the Director General Sandeep Goel, Secretary Education Ashok Kumar, and senior officials from the education department, in addition to the teachers who work with jail inmates.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia went on to say, “Our government believes that right education is the only way to set the right mindset among people and help them lead a better and meaningful life.”
“There are nearly 20,000 inmates in Tihar jail,” he added.
He further said, “Under this project, our teachers will talk to the inmates to understand their educational background and skilling needs and accordingly new programmes will be designed for them.”
“Further, the study will also help the government understand the gaps in the education system, due to which crimes are still happening in the society,” the deputy CM added.
He went on to direct the teachers to interact with teachers very diligently and sensitively with the inmates.
